“Jakubowska. Jakubowska. Jakubowska” is a unique, intergenerational theatrical triptych \u2013 three separate stage events connected by a common theme: the life and work of Wanda Jakubowska, legendary director and \u2018mother of Polish cinema\u2019. The direction and dramaturgy of the individual parts of the triptych are the responsibility of Weronika Szczawi\u0144ska and two creative duos: Agnieszka Jakimiak and Mateusz Atman, and Marta Szlasa-Rokicka and Jowita Mazurkiewicz. <\/p>\n\n
This is an artistic meeting with Wanda Jakubowska – a woman who, despite her enormous contribution to the history of Polish cinematography, remains an ambiguous figure shrouded in controversy. The event touches on the themes of female subjectivity, feminism, cultural memory and the place of art in the struggle for equality and independence. <\/p>\n\n
The individual parts take place in different spaces of the \u0141\u00f3d\u017a Film School: the television studio, the school cinema, and other areas, highlighting the multidimensional nature of the project.<\/p>\n\n
Weronika Szczawi\u0144ska<\/strong> \u2013 director, playwright, cultural studies scholar, lecturer at the Theatre Academy, winner of the 2019 Polityka Passport Award, member of the InSzPer collective, author of the concept for the triptych Jakubowska Jakubowska. Jakubowska. <\/p>\n\n Marta Szlasa-Rokicka<\/strong> \u2013 director, playwright, theater scholar, and student at the Academy of Theatre Arts in Krak\u00f3w.<\/p>\n\n Agnieszka Jakimiak<\/strong> and Mateusz Atman<\/strong> \u2013 a creative duo combining directing, dramaturgy, and visual arts. They are the creators of experimental and acclaimed productions such as \u201cChamstwo,\u201d \u201cSusan Sontag,\u201d \u201cMi\u0142a rob\u00f3tka,\u201d and \u201cDrzwi percepcji.\u201d <\/p>\n\n Jowita Mazurkiewicz <\/strong>\u2013 playwright, theatre scholar, theatre critic. Graduate of Theatre Studies at the Theatre Academy in Warsaw. <\/p>\n\n Nina Kwapisiewicz<\/strong>, Daria Lisowska<\/strong>, Julia Pawlak<\/strong>, Matylda Wojsznis<\/strong> \u2013 actresses, students at the Leon Schiller National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a. <\/p>\n\n This is a unique opportunity to experience intergenerational dialogue in theater and to reflect on the history of Wanda Jakubowska – a figure important to Polish culture, yet controversial and uncomfortable. The performances address issues of equality, female solidarity, memory and critical thinking. They are an artistic tribute and an attempt to reinterpret the legacy of one of the pioneers of Polish cinema. The event will take place in a place shrouded in legend, one of the most frequently mentioned around the world when it comes to filmmakers and \u0141\u00f3d\u017a. <\/p>\n\n The Film School building is accessible for people with limited mobility, equipped with an elevator and wide passageways.
